Cloughjordan Weekender 23rd and 24th August: do visit!

The farm which provides me and my family with most of our food is doing lots of really interesting, fun things in August and September. Have a look below and maybe see you at one of these events!
Cloughjordan Community farm is gearing up for its  appearance in the Global Green area of the Electric Picnic with Resilience Skills Share weekender 23rd and 24th August
As part of this, the farm will host a community farm brunch and talk on Sunday 24th August.
This will be a fundraiser for the Cloughjordan Community Farm, one of Ireland’s only community owned and operated farms. Currently over 50 local families are supplied with fresh veg and milk weekly from a farm they themselves own. The bright big marque will be up, lots of little stalls will festoon the farm's land, while, as you'll see at the end of this post, a great range of fun things will be doable, from DIY pallet furniture making to pop up meals.

Beginning at 11.30AM, this event, part of 2 days of events in Cloughjordan called the Resilience Skills Share Weekender, will feature Eliza Ward's multi award winning Country Choice on Tour.

Eliza's brunch, to be held on the farm's land at the Knocknacree side of the ecovillage, will showcase the very best of what's available in Cloughjordan and the region. Modelled on her Electric Picnic offering “The Cure” this brunch experience will feature produce from the Cloughjordan Community farm, Cloughjordan Woodfired Bakery, and a range of regional producers. These will include Crowe's Farm pork (Dundrum), The Apple Farm juice (Cahir) and Sunny Meadow Farm salad (Portumna). Eliza and her team will make up all the chutneys and jams to accompany the mains, with ingredients sourced from these farms.

A lighter breakfast option, comprising Ballybrado organic oats, Tipperary yoghurt and a beetroot blush made from Cloughjordan Community farm produce will also be available.

Killian Boyle will do tea coffee, bakes and his own ice cream brand - Boyle & co – at the Community Farm Brunch on the 24th.

Following the Brunch, Eliza's father, the inimitable and incontrovertible Peter Ward of Country Choice itself, will take to the stage in the brightly coloured marque on the farm's land, and give us his vision for how food could be.

The Resilience Skills Share weekend in Cloughjordan will feature a host of events, with talks, pop-up meals, the launch of a new teaching bakery school and more.

The farm is also hosting events on 20th and 21st September. This will include a talk and with another superb orator John Feehan (20th September) accompanied by a glorious banquet, as well as forager Sharon Green (of Wild Irish Foragers) and BBQ with Barry Bryan of Low Carbon Catering. These events will also be on the farm's own land, and in and around the fab cultivate Marque! More on these events soon!

Great, affordable accommodation available at Djangos' Hostel
